Wrap a soft measuring tape around your dog’s neck where the collar will sit.
Leave enough room to slide two fingers between the tape and your dog’s neck.
Compare that measurement with the available size ranges. Choose a size with room to make the collar tighter or looser.
If you do not have a soft tape, use string. Mark the length, then measure it against a ruler.
You can also measure a buckle collar that fits well. Lay it flat and measure from the buckle’s metal pin to the hole your dog uses. Do not measure the full length.
Check the fit when the collar is on. Two fingers should fit comfortably underneath, but the collar should not slip over your dog’s head..
The leather
Wickett & Craig tans its leather in Pennsylvania using plant-based tanning agents. This process is called vegetable tanning.
Its leather is known for rich color, lasting strength, and natural character.
Grain lines, small marks, and slight color changes may vary from one collar to another. These details are part of the hide’s natural beauty.
This leather is best appreciated in person, where you can see its finish and feel its rich texture.
With use, the leather gains a patina—a natural change in its color and surface.
How it is made
Every collar is handmade by KowaLeather in our New Jersey studio.
We cut and shape the 10–12 oz leather to create the collar strap.
We add adjustment holes and fit the buckle hardware.
The clean design highlights the leather and the care behind each piece.
